Its probably been done but i couldnt find anything on line. I had an idea of taking a 250 savage case and necking it to 270 and blowing out the case and giving it a 40 degree shoulder. Basically a necked up 250ai. The bullet selection for the 270 has 90 to 110gr varmint bullets and 130gr deer hunting bullets. Although it has a small case it should be a great close range coyote and wolf cartridge capable of deer sized game
Should best the lil 250ai with the lighter bullets at least
The closest i could find was the 270/08 but that would be to easy
 
Or just neck up a 6.5 Creedmoor which is pretty well what you are describing. You could call it the 270 Creedmoor and cash in on the ###y name ................. ;)

Be it from 250 Savage or 6.5 Creedmoor, besides the bragging rights for your new "vanity wildcat", you'd also benefit from fewer bullet choices, inferior performance to the 270 Win (which can be loaded down and still be accurate) and the need for custom dies and a custom reamer.
 
250 Ackley has a case capacity of 51.0grs H2O. 6.5 Creedmoor is generally around 52.1grs +/- depending on brand

I wouldn't call it a close range coyote cartridge, it will shoot a 130gr bullet @ 2900 fps, Inferior downrange ballistics to the 6.5 Creedmoor or 260 Remington though

I was hoping for 2600 but i have no real clue. Just a guess at this point until i mock one up and see how far the bullet seats. So far its just an idea. Ill be slowly working on a 250 savage project once i finish my 338fed
I was thinking more for the lines of the 90 to 110gr bullets. Can never have to many coyote rifles and this idea would allow basically the largest legal caliber with the smallercase offering a better pelt savings. Small and ultra fast works but im more of a frontal diameter at modest velocity kinda guy. My 2506 is often not peltfriendly but it is very effective
 
I've a Schultz and Larsen 7x61 with a 12 twist , does not stabilize heavy bullets so I have it shooting good with 120 gr tsx @ over 3000 fps
Hopefully the tsx won't hurt the hide to bad ?
Haven't shot anything with it yet but I will try some LONG shots with it
 
Not saying the 250 necked up to .277 cal wouldn't be an interesting round but it would be lacking in powder capacity and would be very similar in ballistics to the 6.8 SPC. The 6.8 SPC would also have the advantage of factory cases and dies.
Last spring I had a new .277 cal barrel sitting around and decided I wanted to build a wildcat. I wanted a .277/ 257 Roberts Ackley Imp but couldn't locate a set of dies. I did find a set of .277/308 Ackley Imp dies and went that direction. CH dies were reasonable brass is almost free and I can squeeze a little over 3100 fps with a 130 gr bullet. Or pretty much 270 win ballistics out of a short action rifle weighing about 2 lbs less than most 270 Win rifles. It was a delight to carry in deer season and I only had to fire 1 shot. If you want to play with a wildcat I would suggest you give the .277/308 Imp some consideration
 
250 Savage necked to .277" is 35% larger than a 6.8 SPC, so it will yield about 9% more velocity (approx 250 fps)
 
.277 Fury. it almost looks like a 270/308...

And its now on the market...

I did a 6.5 A-square this spring,,, better known as a 6.5/06,,, its a bit of work on the brass,,, so far so good...

I see the return to 270 Winchester or 25/06 once this barrel is toasted...

Both of them are Wildcats in my books...

the liking of a 270-08 lead me to the 7mm-08 :) glad i did..

no help to your wildcat idea, sounds like cost for nothing new n more cost
