Wildcat info needed

At the gun show today I bought a mitt full of cartridges for display there were a few odd balls and three I can not identify, and assume are wildcats.

One is a .303 Brit case cut down to 51mm with a .223 cal bullet. It is just a little longer then a 219 zipper.

The others is a 270 case 56mm long with a .22 projectile.

The last I thought was a second 219 zipper but found it is a shorter case only 44mm long instead of the 49 listed could this be a Donaldson wasp?

Sound familiar to anyone?

Pics do help. They show case and shoulder angles fairly well and can help narrow down the choices.

Be more specific in your descriptions. You mention "270 case" but don't mention whether it is Winchester, Weatherby, WSSM etc..

Give accurate dimensions, case make and any other info.

Without more info I just don't have the desire to walk over to the bookcase and come back to a game of 20 questions.

You are right. I forgot that because I've made all my wasp cases from 30-30 because I've never seen any zipper cases for sale.;)
 
As has already been said, the Wasp is a modification from the Zipper, which is formed from 25-35 brass. According to a book I have, the Wasp can also be formed from 30-30 brass. The Zipper is listed obsolete as Winchester dropped it in the '60s. I can't find anything like the other unidentified cartridge in the picture.

The "270" you mentioned looks like, and as closely fitting description given I don't have a cartridge seems to be a 228 Magnum(Ackleys apparently is most popular version). This is formed from 30-06 and 308 brass, given that the 270win parent case is the 30-06, this case could be used instead of the originals. Looking at the ballistic tables, this cartridge exceeds 220Swift ballistics(60gr bullet) with 90 grain bullets. Impressive, unless barrel longevity is a consideration.
 
Was the 303/22 wildcat not developed in Australia for hunting due in part to the restrictions on military cartridge use and the availability of the enfield rifles?
 
Double check your dimensions, I think there are some differences in the posts. Very careful measuring will probably be needed to make absolute identification.

1 - The "Wasp" I think is, provided the case length is 1.715 and not 1.751. My second choice for this cartridge is the .22 Lindahl Chucker, Rimmed.

2 - The .303 case may be the .22-303 Varmint-R, but there is a variation of about .023".

3 - The .270 Winchester case looks to be identical to the .224 Clark.

Actually, the .270 parent case was the .30-03, not the .30-06. Using a .30-06 and necking it down to .277 would give you a case well under a .270 minimum case length, although the shoulder would be close enough. How would you go about stretching it? Often wondered about that one...

Not sure how much a refrance Wikipedia is but they mention two wasps the original and a short, this seems to be between the two sizes,maybe its is a poorly sized wasp or short wasp. Since it was made from a cut down .219 zipper case, maybe it was just someone's goof.
