Wildcat stock

I have an already altered pre 64 model 70 in standard long action. Anyone put one in a Wildcat lightweight stock? How do you like it and who did the work? Would like to shave off a pound.
 
Can't speak for a model 70 but I have a wildcat stock for my Rem 700 LA, KS Hunter stock to be exact, and it's a great product. Highly recommend it.

As for who did the work, a family friend bedded mine but Stuart will fit yours up if you'd like.
 
I’ve used a bunch of wildcat stocks, including the Winchester feather weight (I used it on a weatherby ultralight 6-lug action). If you’re at all handy, you can finish it yourself, or as pointed out Wildcat can install it if need be. They are light, stiff, made in Canada and quick to get.
Excellent stocks.
 
I'm in the process of doing a M70 long action. Well made stocks. I'm very happy with what I've used on Remington M700s before. I do my own stock work. It's not complicated. Take your time, go slow. You can always fill in a little bit here or there to get nice gaps since you'll be applying paint anyhow.
 
Been dying to give a wildcat a try but I’m not a remington guy and can’t warm up to the featherweight m70 pattern. I wish they would come out with something along the lines of a brown pound’r or McMillan compact (maybe less drop at the comb) for the Winchester guys. Their classic Mauser patter from Gary Flach is a great looking stock too. If I could ever find a stainless zastava in 7x57 it would get dropped into one of those stocks immediately.

That is my absolute favorite stock...and I've used a number of different brands including McMillan in Echols pattern. The nice thing about a synthetic is you could modify Gary's pattern to fit a M70.

I used one of Stuarts stocks on a stainless Zastava in 6.5x55 . It's a great , light-weight stock and fits me perfectly , the rifle shoots amazingly well by the way . I've known Stuart for about 30 years , he lives about 15 minutes from my place . Great guy , buy with confidence .
 
I looked at the site and was impressed. I like the internal structure he uses with a longitudinal reinforcement. Seems so much better than relying on the skin for strength.

I can finish most of their sporter style stocks between 19-20oz including decelerator, studs, bedding and paint depending on which stock we are talking about. There are a few tricks to keeping them light, but even if you go hog wild they shouldn’t weigh in more than 21oz finished. With a flip flop you can cut more weight, but I won’t sacrifice a good pad to save 1.5oz.

Some of the newer models more aimed at target/long range shooting weigh a bit more because they are physically bigger.
