I've wanted one of those since I was a kid, but forgot about them till recently.

The other pistol that used to catch my eye was the automag, but I've heard that .30 carbine ammo is pricey and since they are out of production....

A wildey seems like a very nice alternative to the ubiquitous desert eagle, but I thought I'd ask around here to see if any of you guys own one, and what you think of them and the .475 wildey cartridge.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I want one! I really want a .44 Automag, but a .475 Wildey would be welcome in my vault as well. I handled a Wildey a long time ago, and I found it to have sharp edges on the trigger etc. It gave me the impression that I may not like shooting it that much, but hey, that is not hard to fix, and I'm a sucker for punishment!

Got one of the original ones in 45 WIN MAG, and yes they have sharp edges. My grip panels slide off and the ammo isn't cheap. The grip frame is huge, but it never fails to impress me when I fire it. It is a BIG boy toy Gord..

A friend of mine had one in .475. What a POS. The machining was horrid. The trigger was crap. He had to make his own brass, from 284 WIN I believe. The dies cost him $300 and bullets were hard to come by. Don't even ask about spare mags. His came with only one. I don't think he put 50 rnds through it before it was bannished to the back of his safe. He finally put it up for sale. It took almost a year to find a sucker to buy it.
