Wildlife photography

Great shots guys...nice to see. :)

I just got a Canon Rebel XSi DSLR for Christmas...so we will see if I can get any pics to contribute.

Taken in the 80's way before we dreamed of digital cameras. Pentax K1000 with a Mamiya 200/3.5, Kodachrome 25.

From my first of several trips to the Amazon, this one was 35mm not digital. Taken in the jungle outside Iquitos, Peru, he was a curious... and as I was to find out, sticky fingered fellow. Wanted to steal anything you showed interest in, and flaunt it at you in a tree high above. Pretty sure he'd get ahold of somebody's camera one day and do the same again, then just drop it from 50ft up when he got bored. He's pictured in a calm moment, after he determined I wasn't much fun.

I enjoy taking some wildlife shots as well. I would like to actually learn to do this hobby a little better as i do enjoy it when i take the time to indulge in it. Time is always a factor it seems. :( There is some fantastic photos on here. Well done!

The first few are not "real" wildlife shots as they were actually taken at Disneyworld while on a family vacation with the kids about a year ago.

This one i took at work of all places. I watched this hawk smack the pigeon in mid-air and she refused to leave her feast. I got within 6 feet to take this shot with a point and shoot.

...and the last one is a pic I took of a sow and cub that refused to get off the road while we were camping. I only had a cheap point and shoot handy. The cub would go barrelling into the bush and climb a tree for about 10 feet and then scramble down after mom again. She would just stop and do a shoulder check as if to dare me to come any closer and then saunter along at a very unhurried pace. We followed her for at least 10 minutes before she finally left the road.

Found another grouse picture. This one is a love sick, male blue grouse, taken in the spring. I took it some years ago with a 35mm Pentax.
The red spot on his neck and the white feathers showing up, came and went as he wanted. I guess that would sure impress a girl friend!

The very first grouse I ever shot was a male Blue Grouse! He was in the middle of the gravel road pecking away and I lined up with the open sights on my dad's old Cooey. After about 6 shots by me and 6 shots from my dad we realized that the front sight was REALLY off (dad had knocked it pulling the rifle out of the truck). During this entire time the grouse was just walking around like nothing was going on. Hell we even tried a couple shots with my sling shot and missed! Finally dad said "screw this" and went to get his 30-30. By this time the grouse walked off the road so I ran up and literally put the barrel of the .22 to that grouse's temple and pulled the trigger.

That was a good tasting bird....

The quality of the photos on here never ceases to amaze me. It's great seeing all the landscapes and inhabitants thereof from all across the country, and in some cases, outside of the country. These threads are always very cool.:canadaFlag:

Here are some pictures I took in November 2008 during our first few days of Deer Hunting at the Petawawa Research Forest. Saw more birds than deer, so we moved after 2 days.
