Will a M1A gas cylinder fit on m305

I recently bought a m1a gas piston for my m305 only to find out that it is smaller than the norinco. I know that the threading for the gas cylinder lock is different but what about the gas cylinder itself? Is it possible to fit the M1A gas cylinder on a m305 barrel and use the m305 gas cylinder lock?

Shouldn't have to modify, but with Norc QC you never know!! There's a reason why they're a tinkerers dream!
