Will a paintjob ruin the price?

I painted my .17 HMR last summer and then again this winter. In doing so has this dramaticlly reduced the price I could get for it?

Can anyone give me a rough estimate of what I could sell it for these days. Its a Savage 93 R17 FV with the synthetic stock and accu-trigger. Its dressed with a Busnell Legend 5-15 X 40mm. Has about 600 rounds through it. Cabelas lists the rifle at $279.99. The scope is about $220.00

I love this gun but its just so expensive to feed compared to a .22. And as someone just out of school I would much prefer to pay $3.50 for 50 than $13.99 for 50.

Otherwise does anyone have any tips for painting this again? I used Krylon for everything.

P.S. Dont mind the knife. Just there for looks.

Paint jobs are so personalized, and you really don't know what your getting, so I would have to say yes it will hurt your resale. How much, hard to say probably not that much in the end, certainly no more than 15% or maybe 20% if it's mucky and poor quality. You could get really lucky and find some other kid who likes it and sees the paint job as value-added, because they don't think they could do it themselves.

I would ask the normal "book" price, and see what you get. You will likely get some low balls, and you can decide what your threshold is.

People pay big dollars to have their guns painted so as long as it is well done not only should it not hurt the value but MAY add some value.
I think you did a great job and if it looks as good close up as it does in the picture it should sell pretty quick for a fair price.

Depends on the buyer.

In my opinion, you should be able to ask at least the price you bought the rifle for, providing everything is still in good condition.

If it is all in good condition, you may have added to the value for some buyers. Not all will like it, but some will. You will get what you paid for it.
