I just purchased an LMT lower and have an Armalite 16" A2 upper on the way.
Im fairly confident i wont have issues with the 16" but i also have a 10.5" RR upper on the way.

My question is will the 10.5" upper function with the LMT lower without any cycle issues?

while I don't have an RRA, my LMT lower works with my Colt upper, my Noveske upper (and the LMT one of course).

I'm guessing that if the uppers are all "mil-spec" there should be no issues.

Well thats good news.
I was concerned the 10.5 would be too fast of a stroke for the LMT buffer spring.

Well now its time to start looking for parts to dress her up.

Tango down grip.

Extractor is on the bolt, it is generally good practice to have one bolt/carrier dedicated to each upper.

Some increase the buffer weight when using shorter guns, it will just help the buffer from htting hard in the buffer tube, but you may not need one, once you start shooting it you can then see if it is required.

Other than that your good to go. Only potential issue with upper/lower mismatch is between Colt and other mfg, some Colts use a large take down pin hole in the front, but this can be adapted with an offset system.

usually you will not have any sort of issues when shooting semi auto only. The only time things become more critical is when shooting a steady full-auto diet. Since I doubt you are talking about a Mil/LE gun and this is a privately owned gun, then you wouldn't have issues. It is more difficult to make a FA gun run reliably than Semi.

It will make the fit tighter, but the jury is out on wether it makes a difference in accuracy. I have one in one of my setups, makes it a ##### to open the rear take down pin, but it is tight.

Rumor has it (some have told me, I'm not trying to start a fight here), that using a full-auto bolt carrier will help cycle short barrelled AR-15's better.

True or false, you decide. This advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

I've heard this too, and having checked it out, I have to say that I believe it is true.

Spend the money on the H-buffer and the extractor upgrade kit sold by Walt at Armseast. That is a more surefire way than getting a FA carrier.

+ 1

The H buffer helps on some guns ( LMTs 10.5 tend to have a relatively small gas port. Mine runs will with the Car buffer NATO ) H2s may be too heavy for some commercial ammo

As far as the M16 carrier goes, I run a M16, JP Tactical....(heavier than a semi carrier, lighter than the M16) and a semi carrier and ALL three run equally well in a LMT10.5" and a Noveske barreled 10.5
