Will A2 fixed front sight interfere with a scope's view

First, I am an AR-15 newbie.

I am about to buy a scope for my AR-15 and mount it on a quick release scope mount.
I am worried that the current fixed front sight will block part of the view.
Is this true?

I thought that changing my front sight to a flip-up sight would be a good idea to solve this.
I am going to install a tall gas block with a 1913 rail and a MBUS flip up sight.
Am I completely crazy or is there another/better approach?

Cheers

By using a scope mount such as the Burris AR-PEPR or similar, you will see right over the front sight. At low magnification, the front sight will be visible but the scope can be used very effectively, no problem. There is no need to remove or change the front sight on that account. The Burris mount comes in two options, fixed and quick detach. Good luck!

Be weary of mounting plastic sights on gas blocks. They get hot, very hot.

I agree.
The ones I am considering are identical in design and also made by Magpul as the plastic ones except made of steel for the exact reason.
Of course , they are 3x the money.
Thanks for your note.

It depends - if you're using a magnified optic, the most you'll see is a shadow because the focal point is beyond the front sight. If you're using a 1x dot it's more noticeable, but then your focal point should be beyond the front sight (you're supposed to be looking at the target, not the dot) so it won't be a big thing. If however, you try to look at the dot, you'll have issues.

When you buy a red dot or 1x prism scope, get a lower 1/3 mount. The dot will be slightly higher than the front sight, which does not bother me at all.

If you do want to remove the A2 front sight, maybe just free-float the damn thing? You will be thinking about doing this sooner or later, anyway...

As stated, the A2 front sight won't actually get in the way of a scope. It will be a visual distraction, but it's easy to ignore. Wester's picture is accurate to what I've seen.

Mucking with gas blocks can be a bit of a trick if you have no experience or the correct tools... It's the number one cause for cycling problems on frankenguns. I recommend you leave the A2 sight and try it out before you decide to replace it.

I don’t find it to be a distraction at all. I don’t even notice it with 3.4x magnification unless I purposely look for it.
