Will an M1A stock fit on an M305 with minimal effort?

My search for a used decently priced for condition wood stock for my M305 has come up empty so I am now going to start looking for a new one. So before I throw down I am wondering if anyone else has put a new M1a stock on and if it worked easily enough.

option number 2 is to just paint the one I have now brown to resemble the fiberglass ones that were issued. Or maybe get a wood grain hydro dip done.

Cgn say put a WTB add up, wood stocks are plentiful especially if not picky on manufacturer.

And yes an M1A should fit with minimal effort to be useable.

I had one up for a while. Three bumps and i took it down. Had one offer of $175 for one that had a cracked wrist and no hardware. I am thinking new is the better deal.
 
That's surprising!

I would personally put money towards a real wood stock than a hydro dipped norinco stock. Maybe krylon yours brown to mimick a USGI until you find a wood one.

there are very detailed threads here on exactly how to fit an M1A stock to a norinco action. While the receivers are essentially the same, the norinco has some extra bearing surface on the right side that is unique to thier receiver. The M1A stock will need some minor material removal to provide proper fitment.

edit: boyds is a great option and I believe..... but don't mind being corrected..... springfield M1A stocks are made by boyds I think......
 
Boyd’s walnut, and as 45ACP stated, I have yet to see a walnut SAI stock that didn’t have Boyds stamped inside the barrel channel.

The Boyd’s walnut stock can be adjusted for the Chinese action in under 30 seconds if you don’t mind “obvious”, but not detrimental to accuracy, blemishes..... it takes 10-15 min to do a nice job that isn’t noticeable when the action is in the stock. Don’t forget to seal the wood where ya cut into it!

To get it to truly fit properly, you may have to tweak the front of the stock where the ferrule resides, and the $110 stocks don’t have any hardware, so you may have to alter the stock or your chi-com stock metal to fit them to the SAI inletted stock...

The M14 stocks do fit a bit better (stock metal wise) but they are only offered in GI slim.... which isn’t as thin as GI stocks were, and not as “robust” as the SAI profile stocks.... YMMV.
