Will chopping the bbl on my Win 97 shotgun to 20'' diminish the value?

i dont like to alter any gun even a single shotgun like a cooey only guns i will do things like that to is modern made guns you have to remember some one used that rifle or shotgun to get food and protect there familys thay took care of it and used it

only time i do something to a old gun is if its in bad shape sith a shotgun it has to have a bluge in the barrel near the muzzle or a bad bore for me to do any big time mods that cant be reversed.

H Wally i would have been in tears thats for sure i dont know why thay cut them down there fine the way thay are i perfer the long barrels on scatter guns most of the time but i do like the short stuff too ive never cut down a useable gun though

no respect for anything anymore

"And don't forget. That isn't your Martini you have. It belonged to others before you and will belong to others after you are gone. Look after it, and pass it on with pride. It deserves it." Malcolm Cobb, the martini henry note book. i like to use this mind set for any firearm and i use it even more when talking about milsurps

If I take the engine out of my number matching chevelle will it affect the value?
Wouldn't take a smart person to figure out the answer. Same applies here. No insulting the OP, just sayin its a no brainer.

M97's used for Cowboy action, rarely have any collector value. A lot of them have spent the last 50 years in Uncle Freds barn and the finish (or lack of) reflects that. I've never seen a trench gun manufactured from a stock M97, is it possible?
