Will Coonan Inc ever rise from the ashes?

They have been undergoing “corporate changes” for like 6 months now, during which they are not filling orders or even answering their phone.

AFAIK production has ceased.

Dag nabbit, it was the last handgun on my buy list!

Did anyone see or hear anything at SHOT or hear any rumours?

Interesting. Wasn't aware. Wonder if they are being bought out or maybe a large corporate investor. I had the 357 and liked it a lot - accurate and reliable, if not the last word in refinement. Was waiting to see one of their 10mm but yes, it has been awhile.

I was hoping to pick up at some time there 10 mm model as well, I have one of their premium .357 models or whatever they are called, two tone, aluminum grips with adjustable sites. One that is not for sale.

I've just been looking for one too actually. I specifically wanted one of the new 'classic' models with a factory comp though. They have just recently begun posting on their social media, not sure how positive of a sign that is, but it likely counts for something.

There was one with that description on the EE last time I checked.

One's a model B and the 'classic' doesn't have the factory comp. Doesn't look like one can be purchased, and even when they could, they came semi permanently attached to a 5.7" (longer than the factory 5") barrel and were 400usd.

^ doesn't look right without wood grips. There is just something about the Coonan I love. That's saying a lot since .357 Mag in an auto doesn't make sense to me and overall I really don't like anything 1911.

The aluminum grips are actually very nice to hold and better to shoot but yes the wood grips look good. I’m surprised at how reliable the coonan is considering it is a rimmed revolver round. The auto really soaks up the recoil too. One of these with some hard cast 180gr rounds from buffalo bore would be a great ATC gun in the woods.

Coonan use to make this model just as it is, they use to have a few variations of the .357. The base model was the stainless with wood grips. This was an upgraded model with aluminum grips, adjustable sites, two magazines, spring for 38 special and two tone. Was sitting at a gun shop as I scrolled through their guns online. Bought it.

Nice.

I want the opposite colour scheme - a stainless slide and black frame with the standard wood grips.

Hopefully one day I’ll be able to order it.

Coonan is rather less than bloved for various reasons over at FALFiles--I only ound this out because of toying with the idea to attempt a C1 FAL clone-build after I have the M4, C8 and Garand in the bag. (Kind of a "1 for me, 1 for you" thing--the Garand is what my great-uncle carried kicking SS arse for Patton, and the FAL would be my best guess at attempting to replicate what her dad would've been familiar with in his late-1960s RCAF days.)
