Will I kick myself for buying a Browning Silver?

Came across an old stock Browning Silver Black lightning on sale, so I purchased this to fill my upland grouse niche.

So while I do really like this gun, will I regret not buying a 3.5 inch maxxus in the future? Seems like it's the newest model with more features and takes a 3.5 shell.

I've owned a few 3.5" semis, but I've never used 3.5" shells. A 3" gun will serve any purpose you need it to, and for grouse, nothing more than 2 3/4" is needed. The Silver is a fine gun, and the limited run Black Lightnings are especially nice, nicer than the Maxus IMO. You shouldn't regret your purchase for a second.

I have a shotgun that will shoot 3-1/2" ammunition, but I have never fired 3-1/2" loads in it, and I don't plan on doing so, because they just aren't necessary.

You actually don't even need 3" for anything and especially not 3.5". It's all just marketing. I've slayed a lot of Goose, duck and grouse with 2-3/4" shells.

I also have a 3.5 inch autoloader and haven't fired more than half a dozen 3.5 inch shells in it. a patterning board would quickly convince you that besides turkey and specialty shells, (lead shells) there is no advantage to 3.5 inch shells except to make the manufacture more $$$. steel 3.5 inch shells don't really pattern any better than 3 inch.

You won't regret buying a Browning Silver Black Lightning I own four 12 Gauge shotguns using that platform; Browning Silver 3", Browning Silver Black Lightning 3", Winchester SX3 3" and Browning Silver Micro Midas 3" (wifes gun). In my opinion these semi-auto's are the nicest platform for the price. Browning Maxus seems overpriced and I don't think you'll miss not having 3-1/2".

Thanks boys.
So far it seems like a really good shotgun at a decent price.
I've yet to really read anything negative about the silver.

The zombie crowd will go to a 2" shell not 4", so they can carry more ammo...
