Got one of my Holy Grail today and thought it would be nice to share. I've been lusting for that particular model since it came on the market nearly 10 years ago. This is one of the last 1st Gen X-Five 9mm Level 1 manufactured with the German labeled box and no import marks on the left side of the slide in 2013 (BD date code), it's obviously an euro model since the included manuals are in German, Spanish and French. It came to me complete with box and labeled outer sleeve, only thing missing is the plastic bag for the pistol and spare magazine.

Some eye candy for all of you fine folks!

Very nice, congrats! On the few occasions I've had my own X5L1 and 210 out at the same time, I've shot a bit better with the X5. But hardly conclusive; IF I had to pick between them though, I'd keep the P210. Dethrone? No, just different paths to the same end :) .

Nice! Can't wait for the head to head comparison from the range;)

While that's probably the nicest looking X5 I've seen (some look pretty garish to me) I think I'd still give the P210 a slight edge in the looks department.

Ive owned both the X5 and X6 along with several p210s. They are all outstanding shooters but if I had to choose just one, it would be the p210...the only downside I find with most 210s is the heel style mag release.

That X5 is certainly a very nice pistola Harry Callahan but I am quite certain it won't take anything off the P-210. Different animals. And I know you have that thing for the P-210's...

Having Shot both the X5 and the P210 I still think the P210 is slightly better but oh so small a difference. The X5 is still one super nice gun. Green with envy

Thanks Bill! I think that yours is the Maple Leaf version though. Except for the grips and extended mag release on the L1 I think they are nearly identical.

Truth be told I first shot the X-Five 10 yrs ago (early 2007), a member at the range, and R. Nicholls employee had gotten one of the first example to hit our shore from the German Mastershop, it was a brand new version back then. At the time, I was more into Swiss P210's, Pythons, higher end 1911's and vintage Smith's, I still am but never really forgot the X5's. Being a newer model back then I wanted to see if any issues was going to arise with it and since nearly all my play money was already into other toys and hobbies, you all know how it goes, I've postponed the idea for a while.

Fast forward to late summer 2012. I was at the range with both my P210 Legend Target and Supertarget for a side by side comparo, when a club member saw me shooting and as I was having a break asked if I wanted to perform an accuracy test, or simply shoot the heck out of both his nearly new X5 L1 and X6 L1, hell yeah I replied. That afternoon I shot nearly 200 rounds of factory ammo between the two pistols. From a rest, off hand, at 25 and 50 yards. Both X pistols were just has accurate as my P210's, maybe a tad better given my limited experience with them. From a rest both X5 and X6 gave me the same accuracy, one group was better with one, the next with the other. Off hand was another story, the X5 gave me the best accuracy on average of 7 out of 10 five shot group, I found the X6 too heavy (muzzle heavy) and the X5 had obviously the best weight/balance of the two (the X5 is still no lightweight at 47oz. empty w/o a magazine).

At that point I wanted, needed an X-Five L1. About a year later I placed an order and deposit with one of the sponsor above ^ and waited... ... ... Sadly I've learned that Sig Sauer GmbH had gone "rogue" and made a bad deal with some Latin American country and were under an indefinite export ban... That was July 14th 2014... I cancelled my order and took my deposit back.

Yes Gilbert, I do have a soft spot for the Swiss P210! The "new" range comparo will be with my dash 6 and this one at my next range session!

I have multiple samples of each and it's a wash. I shoot the X5's better but I'm convinced it's due to the superior sights. I also find the X5 easier to shoot quickly.

I will also say that I have experienced significant variation between individual samples of both guns. A good X5 will be better than a bad P210. Opposite also holds true. Just have to hope you got a "good" one as with anything.

Enjoy the new gun. My non-railed X5L1 and X6L1 are on my never sell list.

Didn't know much (anything!) about the various versions until I tried ordering a set of Nill grips direct from Germany - a very nice Fraulein on the other end was kind enough to take the time to figure what exactly I had to ensure they sent the correct version. So after sending pics and serial #, she explained it was an L1; but yes without the extended mag release and with a bright paint job LOL.

Looking forward to your range comparo!

Thanks Sailor!

Will report back with a range review of both.

Yes, the P210, what a marvel it is. I personally have no issue with the euro mag release. It's a safer to operate in combat situation but sure takes more time to reload if you only have a side arm to fight and/or defend yourself.

Very nice! Congrats!

Any more where that one came from?

Nah, sorry RC Fan. This one was pure luck as it wasn't listed anywhere. Someone who's giving the sport up and selling his guns told me he had this one in new condition and was considering selling. Got it with 2 extra X5 mags for a price I couldn't refuse.

You are absolutely right TT, you might have the top of the line pistol but if it's a lemon or a Friday afternoon one your SOL.

Let's hope I got a good one, I'll see very soon!
