Will Muller chokes ruin my gun??

Interested in Muller chokes for my Optima bore gun, but I must admit I am nearly being scared off by what seems to be multiple reports of them cracking or worse. I don't want to ruin my barrels. Is this overblown internet hype? An old problem that has since been resolved? Or a valid concern that should steer me away from Mullers?

I used Muller in my DT10L as it made the shotgun much easier to move and affected the "movement of inertia". I got my DT10L in 2004 and replaced it with a DT11 in May 2012. Beretta did not have a LM choke for the Optima HP extended. I picked up a pair Of Muller Optima HP LM. Beretta sent me a pair of LM flush and I did pattern testing of the Muller versus the flush Beretta chokes. The Beretta won! So, the Muller did not crack etc... They are lighter than the Beretta extended chokes. They do NOT have the same constrictions of Beretta chokes as do nearly ALL aftermarket chokes. So, denser patterns are often due to a few thou tighter constriction. The Muller chokes can make the shotgun livelier. Pattern the shells you use versus the chokes you use at least at 30 yards!

I talked the other day with Marianne the lady who looks after the orders for Muller chokes. I had dropped a choke on the ground (gravel) and was afraid to have damaged the choke. Short story, they sent me a brand new choke at no extra cost. They stand behind their product. I inquired about the choke that were blowing up in barrel. It affected the optima barrel chokes at one point, bad run. They since have fixed them. It won't damage the barrel because they are made of aluminum/ceramic. I have been shooting them for 3 years in my Perazzi and they have been awesome. They don't have a dense core pattern but rather a well even distributed pattern. You may not always smoke the targets like other chokes but get those extra birds with the pellets less concentrated in the center of the pattern, bigger pieces. When you shoot tournament a broken clay is a broken clay whether it was pulverized or broken into larger pieces. One clay can make the difference between a win or a loss.

2 members at my club run Muller chokes in their K-80's and very happy with them. Personally though, the pattern board has never told me I needed to replace my factory tubes in either of my tubed guns.

I was considering some until I saw the cost of shipping and handling to get them into Canada. I researched them quite a bit, they had the run of them cracking with the optima chokes, they also get stained if you use the wrong type of cleaner, the black oxide gets washed out, And after reading a really in depth comparison of them between factory optima beretta chokes and mullers (I think it was a post on shotgun world) it basically came down to there wasn't any difference. I decided to save the couple hundred dollars and use that on shells.

It seems there was a bad run of Optima chokes a while ago. But it is not hard to find recent reports of the chokes cracking or getting stuck in various makes of gun. It seems the problem is ongoing. I emailed Muller about this and have yet to receive a reply.

Have been running Mullers in my Blaser F3 for 2 years with out any issues. I find that the Muller chokes seem to break the targets better than the factory chokes

I have been running mullers in 3 different brownings for a few years and every gun in the future will have mullers. There lightweight and pattern good but most of all they never get seized in the barrel so easy to change and they stay 100 times cleaner then all other chokes ive used

Where do you guys get your millers from? Ordering direct from Muller, after exchange and shipping it's pretty expensive. Any dealers in Canada carry Muller?
