Will powder residue really hurt that much?

I haven't tried this method myself yet but a guy I met at the range last week told me his secret to easy cleaning stainless revolvers. He had a little spray bottle with a solution of varsol and atf that he sprayed on before he left the range. To show me how effective it was he grabbed a rag and gave his cylinder a quick rub and it was shiny.

Thanks for the tip. Curious to see if it works.

As mentioned, an ultrasonic cleaner can't be beat. I have the ss GP100 just like yours, and mine has looked like that a few times as well. Aslo the 686 and 629. I run varsol in my ultrasonic, with the heater on, a half hour after I've been at the range and they looks like new again. Hit bore and cylinders with Hoppes #9, swab brush rinse repeat....and oil the heck out of it. Works like a damn.
