Will remington ever fix the 597 magazine designs so they are as reliable as a 10/22?

Mine was pretty reliable, I woudn't mind another one- HB model looks pretty ###y!.

I like it! I didn't get the model with the muzzle brake though.....guess I'll have to live with the hellish recoil and muzzle climb.

Hoping the 30 rounders won't be an issue in this one though.....

That gun was the absolute worst piece of #### rifle I have ever laid my hands on.

You, my friend have never experienced the glory of a Norinco JW105... I haven't even fired it yet and I'm thinking my 597 will be superior in all aspects... :)

But I digress... back on topic. Remington's quality on the 597 is *extremely* varied it seems.

I remember years ago the 597s having mag issues, but ever since Remington introduced the circle 10 mags I thought these issues disappeared. I've put many thousands of round through 3 different 597s and non have ever had a mag feed issue. They all needed the set screws on the guide rods backed off to feed and eject reliably, but this has nothing to do with the mags.

I thought the circle 3 magazines were all you could get in a 10 rounder unless you have a 597 from the first year or so of production. I got mine 10 plus years ago. Mine came with the circle 3 and have always been able to fill the mag with out issues. My problems were with the guide rods being too tight and cheap ammo.

I do wish they had used better material to make the mags though.

I've had nothing but good times with my 597's. I've got a standard and a HB, and with a little tuning, they are the best semi auto's I have. I had problems with one 30 round, but my others worked fine, and my 10 round ones have all been good, I cleaned up the casting marks so they drop free when I pull the release. I wish there were as many aftermarket goodies available for the 597 as there is for the 10/22 though. I'm still searching for a laminate wood stock that I like.

mine works perfect. Its a great Tack Driver. Two factory mags and Blazers or Mini mags run flawlessly. Crap ammo causes issue. Fire the good stuff only.
