Will Sig P320 .40 cal mags work in the 9mm gun?

I haven't tried it, but with the P226 supposedly 40 cal mags work fine in the 9mm (and hold 12 rounds or so).

Oops, I think that should read 10 rounds. I just discovered the calibre x change kits come with a mag so It's safe to assume they're not exchangeable.

Title of the post says it all. Is it possible to use the .40 mags in the 9 and squeeze in 12 or 13 rounds and have it function well?

No idea about function, but someone here asked this a couple weeks ago and was told it works.

It doesn't matter what Cal the mag is. The issue is how many rounds are put in it. I didn't think I was vague on the point. Hence the 10rd mags in Canada.

You, simply put, do not know what you're talking about.

This has been discussed on CGN countless times. For purposes of legality, the mag capacity limit of ten is based on the firearm/calibre that the mag was designed for. IF it happens to work with a different firearm or different calibre (with more than 10 rounds), it is STILL legal.

Read this from the RCMP:

5. Magazines for semiautomatic handguns which contain more than ten (10) rounds of a different calibre

Magazines designed to contain centrefire cartridges and designed or manufactured for use in a semiautomatic handgun, are limited to 10 cartridges. The capacity is measured by the kind of cartridge the magazine was designed to contain. In some cases the magazine will be capable of containing more than 10 rounds of a different caliber; however that is not relevant in the determination of the maximum permitted capacity.

Example:
Heckler and Koch P7 pistol chambered for 9mm Luger caliber:
The magazine designed for the 40 S&W calibre variant of the pistol will hold 13 cartridges of 9mm Luger calibre and function in the 9mm Luger calibre P7 pistol. This is permissible as the maximum permitted capacity of the 40 S&W calibre magazine must be measured by the number of 40 S&W calibre cartridges it is capable of holding, which is 10 such cartridges in the case of the HK P7 pistol magazine.

I think you just have swayed my decision between a Sig 320 a Beretta tactical toblerone.

I read on the Sig forum they ran fine 99% of the time. But guys won't use them for self defence for obvious reasons. Up here well we dont have that issue...lol...

Thats why I only ordered 4 for now. I will test them and hopefully they work. I love our stupid rules...lol... But that extra capacity will be handy when I take my classes.

Wow, I had no idea. Well I look like a boner today. Consider me educated and say no more. Wouldn't want to give the issue too much attention now. And I thought you guys were just messing with me. That's great except those .40 Cal sig mags are expensive.

So, back to the OP...

From what I've read, on CGN and elsewhere, the 40 cal mags will work in a 9mm --- but perhaps not 100% flawlessly. For punching paper, you're good to go. For competition, you'd be well advised to run them a bit before relying on them.

I just joined the P320 club. I hope Reliable Gun in B.C. is reliable. Next week I will hopefully get it.

Now I got a think of something to tell the wife. I already blew my yearly gun budget back in March. It just might have to be a Mother's day present to her from the kids.

Does that work for the P226 as well? K, sounds like it does. Asked and answered.

It will work in the case of the P226 mags. I have not tried the same scenario in the P320 mags.

It won't work well in all cases. For instance I did not have good luck with Glock 17 mags.
