Will Tavor and AR-15 likely to be effected by C-71?

they cant just ban the guns, they need to have justification behind their reasoning ie. converted autos on the CZ858

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Do you really think so?

On the chance they do , if you have one you may be fortunate enough to get grandfathered. Again not guaranteed , if your really worried pick up a receiver. Same as having the rifle to the libs it seems and not that much invested.

Why don't you ask some of the guys how fortunate they feel they are being grandfathered into whichever 12(?) class they are in that lets them keep their FAL's and other prohibited rifles that they are allowed to own but never allowed to shoot again.
Also keep in mind that your now prohibited firearm just dropped in value by half or more since now you can't sell it to anyone other than someone else with the same class license and that it is now a fancy paperweight.
It also doesn't magically grandfather you into any other 12(?) class so you can't all of a sudden go buy that sweet HK MP5 you've always wanted.

Fortunate is not the word I would choose to use to describe what being grandfathered would be.

If the receivers of the 858's were converted autos, then the gov should have been putting everyone with one into the 12(3) classification via grandfathering. The fact they are not & intend to create a 12(9) tells you something...

Probably the most telling point I've heard on the subject and everyone who wants in on the new 12.9 category should think on that one a bit!

Well I for one will not be held hostage by "what ifs". I am going to buy and enjoy whatever is legal today until the day comes when I can not. The more of these firearms that are out there, the harder it would be to get rid of them.

This. Being afraid of getting that gun you want makes it easier for them to ban it because of the small number of owners. Stop fretting and get it, and that alone will help keep it off a list.

Except it's not true. The legislation that enables the 12(3) category has a date written into it, and that date is in 1992. You can't just add guns to it without a time machine, or re-writing the legislation. It's easier to write a new category.

They can take it from my cold dead hands! Don’t tread on me!

We need to get active before they ban them, not wait till they do and then tell them to piss off.
Have you signed the online petitions? Have you written any emails to our elected officials? If not then you're just talking out your ass and doing nothing to help our cause.
We also need to work as hard as we can to deprogram all the brainwashed lieberal voting sheep we know, take them to the range and show them how fun and safe firearms are and that we're not all a bunch of criminals.

If they do go prohibited then anything I own that is registered (AR's and pistols) will be turned in when they ask for them. Are you really willing to go to jail or die to hang onto your $2000 toy?

Threads like this sold me on buying an AR... I picked up a M&P15 for $650 and it is fantastic.... I'm actually holding it right now while watching hockey.
I'd rather enjoy it now, then never have the chance.... Life is too short for if's.

Yes I have emailed and yes I have signed the petitions...and in fact looking at joining the new veterans coalition...so ya I’m active.
Is it a hill I want to die on...not sure yet! Will I roll over and take it...not a chance.
If they wNt to prohibit it fine...then they can buy it off of me and destroy it.

I think it is a sure bet that the AR-15 family of rifles is the big end goal victory here. Hopefully there are too many owned by too many people so it will be a political dinosaur to swallow. Time is on our side here - the more time, the better. If you don't have an AR-15 registered - run, don't walk to the nearest dealer and get a stripped lower, any lower.

Numbers are the thing that matters here.

I disagree. Rewriting existing or writing new, both require effort... There IS a reason they are going the 12(9) route... And it is not for the benefit of those who have 858's or Swiss Arms...

I'm not sure numbers would cause the political indigestion. There were way more firearms affected by the 12(X) prohibitions.

As far as re-opening 12(3) or any other existing series 12 prohibition, it would require adding specific named firearms. The great advantage in C-71 is that in addition to the Czech and Swiss arms being re-prohibited, the way is cleared for any and all desired prohibitions in the future.

Prior to 1987 in the UK guns were part of society then we had an event and the Government managed to disarm the country, fast forward to 2018 and a man was arrested and charged for carrying a potato peeler......

Fight this with everything possible do not give up your guns.

I purchased two lowers in the past month and I might add a third ..

While all are targetted for prohibition, they are going to taper so that they can keep crying wolf and going after firearms in general by keeping a few 'ass aulting looking ones' around right until near the end.

This way there is always a 'boogyman' in the legal firearm closet that they can beat us over the head with while expanding prohibition to 'operator assisted' semi autos - the levers, bolts and slide mechanism firearms etc

If they ban all the scary ones at the start, they are just shooting themselves in the foot. ;)

So a few will remain.........for a while anyway while they need them.......

After all they can't keep blaming us for everything violent that the criminals, crazies and terrorists commit if we don't even have a slingshot left...

I suggest (in friendly tone) see the long list of firearms and magazines that have been banned for no reason. The list is long. They don't need any justification or reason and they have proved that many times over.

Same here. With all the talk about C-71 I decided it was time to finally buy a lower and start a build. My problem was by the time I received my stripped Spikes lower I already had bought a Colt SA20 lol

Don't let that concern you... Buy them now, enjoy them, and get politically active: BURY them in letters and phone calls, contribute to Parties who support your hobby, educate the ill-informed (CCFR videos are great for this) and GET OUT AND VOTE.

This sums up my thoughts exactly. Nobody can predict the future, be active in the sport and proactive with your thoughts and concerns. At the end of the day, it's all you can do. Be well and safe shooting!
