Some P-'14s were restocked by Canadian Armourers in War 2 using P-'17 wood. Accepted Service mod, same as the name change on the '17 that everyone denies because they read too many American books.
It was the "P-'17" in Canadian manuals, "Eddystone Rifle" to the RCAF guys who lugged them around at Boundary Bay on coast watch.
BTW, it also was a ".300"" calibre rather than ".30 Ball M1906". That's where you get a lot of those boxes of Canadian-made .300" ammo.
It's .30-'06 in disguise.
