Will there be any SKS's left by spring?

I want to buy an SKS in April or May. What are the chances of there being any ammo crates and reasonably priced rifles at the dealers at that point? They seem to be selling off ridiculously fast, and I don't know if they are bringing any more in.

And, is there anywhere East of Ontario I can find cheap surplus ammo or rifles? I know The Gun Dealer in Macadam doesn't have anything, so I doubt anyone in NB sells it, but maybe in Nova Scotia?.....

russian SKS: no sure if any more are coming in the spring but even if they did it would be paid with weak C$ so expect to pay more .

norinco SKS: yes, they will be avail .

I'd suggest that you find a dealer that has them in stock now and see if you can put a downpayment on one. They'll usually hold it for you for a while if you explain your situation, but don't be surprised if you don't keep your word and they keep your money.

I have been seeing way too many of these SKS threads and I feel that it is about time I stepped in. To put it bluntly, don't bother with an SKS. Get a CZ-858 or the new non restricted VZ-58. I own both a Norinco SKS and a CZ-858 and I can tell you that the CZ is a much better investment. The SKS is heavy, hard to strip/clean, less well built and less attractive than the CZ. Also the SKS (except for the D) has a somewhat clumsy non detachable magazine, no pistol grip and no easy/cheap way of attaching a folding or adjustable stock (without the purchase of an entire aftermarket stock) just to name a few. I don't hate or really even regret buying my SKS but since I have got my hands on the CZ the SKS has become a bench warmer. Save up a little more cash and treat yourself to the CZ. No offense intended to SKS buffs:wave:

Another Member says that a Gunstore in PEI is getting some of the Russians.

And which gun store would that be? The only one I know of is Savage Harbour Arms (or some similar name) that I used to drive by every day to college (I grew up on the Island). I thought they just sold thousand-dollar duck guns as most of the sports stores around here, but I might be wrong.

Whoever it is, it'd be nice if they brought in ammo as well. It seems to be really hard to find this stuff in the East since our local dealers can't compete with Marstar, Can Am, or the rest.

EDIT: I see it is indeed Savage Harbour, and he wants $250 when the shipment arrives.

To each his own, but I disagree. The Russian/Yugo SKS rifles are more robust than the 858, half the price of the 858, I find them simple to field strip and clean, the stripper clip feed system works fast and flawlessly. The SKS is the T34 of rifles, simple and near indestructible. Every shooter needs a good (European) SKS. If the 858 appeals to you, great, but that doesn't demean the SKS.

I predict that a steady supply of SKS's will hit the EE in coming weeks. Some guys have very short attention spans and will tire of them quickly. If the cheap milsurp ammo runs out, even for a short while, yet others will pop up. Others will simply need the money.

Watch for Norinco M213's as well.
