I have the opportunity to get a remington 700 heavy barrel in 6mm for a reasonable price but what I would really like is a 6mmbr. If I get a barrel and get it chambered for a 6mmbr norma will this bolt still work. I realize the 6mm is based off the 7x57 cartridge and not a 308 but they seem pretty similar in size (.473 vs .470). or are there other reasons why this will or won't work?
Sorry if this is a dumb question or if I'm missing the obvious..

There's LOT'S of dumb questions. They get asked here a lot. Like "Can I shoot a 45-70 round out of my bargain bin .410 shotgun?" or just about anything that starts with "I was told, in an emergency, a soldier could..."

Rechamber away, warning though, you will loooove the 6BR Norma cartridge and will have to have 2 or 3 "backup" rifles made.
