I was just wondering if Canadian tire and wal-mart will be selling shotguns and hunting rifles again with the registry gone? That would be pretty sweet.

I was thinking about it like this. With the registry gone buying a gun would be the same as buying ammo now. Flash the card pay the cash and walk out with a new 12ga. That would be sweet.

The registry going really changes very little for dealers. We will still likely need to account for who we sell to, as we did before the registry. In fact it may make more work to implement an internal "registry" to comply with the terms of our business licenses, the new laws, etc.

Yeah Canadian Tire in Calgary on Macleod has a crazy selection thats quite awesome. I bough a rifle their they had on consigment and it was a good deal and well maintained.

Above all some of the most respectful staff I have ever dealt with in the Firearm idustry. I am a little younger then 60 and I seem to get disrespected or shoved away as 'not a real' gun owner from other places.

I hope so if they will bring from Canadian Tires like this but I agree with everyone else and remain hopeful but dont think it will happen.

Each store would need to be licensed as a firearms dealer. Canadian Tire stores are franchises so individual store owners can make that decision for themselves, as some have already done. Wal-Mart Canada would have to make the decision centrally, and if they did, they would then assess local market opportunities to decide which stores might be worth setting up as gun dealers.

Under the new proposed system should the registry be abolished all who sell a firearm be it a dealer or private individual will be required to keep a record for life of all gun sales. So that means if you sell a firearm for example on the EE here you will be required to keep a record of that sale for the rest of your life, with all the pertinent information of the buyer readily available should the gov't or police wish to review said information etc. Sound like fun yet?

back in the day wal-mart( woolco) did sell guns- cooeys, cil, winchester94s and some RUSSIAN things- in other words, mainstream , bottom of the line guns- ie plain jane was name of the game-they MIGHT do it again, as the wal-mart usa does- however, the sporting goods wal-mart is also a franchise, ( they rent floorspace and shelving from wal-mart corp) so it's up to the "manager /owner.- and right now we've got a woman/anti in charge so that's not going to happen- she keeps a bare minimum of 22 bricks on the shelf , and there's a box of 308/200 that's been there sincce noah landed
