I was give lately a William Read fine twist shotgun from Boston, it is write on one barrel 2-12 and the other one 2-13, it have a lot of brass a paper patch box sXs 30 inch long black powder percussion, any informations would be of great help... Cheers. JP.
 
from Gardiner; William Read, Boston Mass. Established in 1826 at 107 Washington Street. about 1852 became Wm Read & Sons which continued until about 1870.

are you sure that it is 2-12 on the barrel and not B -12 as in bore 12 guage?

That makes more sense, mooncoon: one barrel a full 12, the other a 13 at the choke.

I have a whole nickel sez you're right.
