Just a general question to users of the Williams or Lyman aperture sight systems. I have a Williams peep sight installed on a model 94 Winchester. Apparently it is a cheaper model type sight and there is a more expensive sight of a similar nature available. Does anyone currently familiar with these sights have any input to offer as to advantages, disadvantages, etc.

The Williams 5D is the cheaper version. Originally called the 5-Dollar sight, because that was what it cost, the name changed to 5D when the price went up. Two screws have to be loosened on the top to adjust the aperture for windage. It just makes it less precise and a little more fiddly to zero than the more refined Foolproof model, which is click-adjustable. It's been a long time since I've used a Lyman, but they're very good sights as well.

As 9.3 said the FP is click adjust and that's a nice option when sighting in but once you get the 5D sighted in and tightened up, it functions the same as the FP. They even look the same.
