I have a 1953 made marlin 336 that I was thinking of putting a reciever sight on. I was wondering if the Williams FP 94/36 would fit my gun without having to drill and tap any holes in the reciever. Also does the williams sight come with a 3/8 dovetail blank to put in the rear sight's place or would I have to purchase that seperatly?

Thanks in advance

i've purchased several of the williams reciever sights and never recieved a 3/8 " blank. they are available at www.brownells.com. the FP-94/36 has to attach on to the side of your reciever, so it must be drilled and tapped. ihave an older than a 1953 marlin 336 and there was no drilled and tapped holes back then even on the top for a scope.

Check to make sure your Marlin is factory Drilled and Tapped for the sight. There will be two small holes about 1/2" apart on the upper rear left receiver. The FP 94/36 will fit. The Williams sight does NOT include a dovetail blank filler. The one's I have purchased made by Marble's run about 12.00 bucks. If your rifle has the front sight secured by a dovetail (I think it will have) you will need a higher front sight to get it sighted in. Hope this info helps.

cheers Darryl
