I want to take the scope off my 30-30 and go with Williams peep sights. I've been told that I will have to change the height of the front bead. Is this true? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Well, get it mounted and try it and see. Some rifles do need a taller front sight. If it shoots high even with the peep sight all the way down, then you will need a taller front sight... Or you can always buy it as a set, it probably won't cost you more than 15 bucks extra. I have a couple of rifles with the Williams Fire Sights. They work great in cloudy or lower light conditions.

Take a piece of automotive wire, preferably black. Wrap it several times around your barrel behind your existing front sight, with the end sticking up to act as a sight.
Trim to fit as your shooting. Then measure the remaining height from bottom of your dovetail .
