So I was at range on weekend and shot a 54 cal muzzle load. I loved it!!!! I love my bow and I love my cz 858 and I am buying a muzzle loader....should i go flint or percussion.....are either one needing a pal?(share sport with my lil bro i think)

I am looking for a mentor or someone to feed me directiona nd opinions as i am open to learning....any help? i am in edmonton....
 
A flintlock rifle doesn't require PAL. I would start with a percussion lock rifle, PAL required. They tend to be cheaper, more available and easier to learn how to shoot. You can find a Hawken style rifle for around $300.

If you think muzzleloaders are fun...wait till you try Black Powder Cartridge!!!! The most fun you can have with your clothes on!

Call Ken @ 780-478-1988 he's the pres. of the Alberta BP Assoc.he can put you in touch with shooters in your area.
I would look for a .50 or .54 cal Thompson Center or Lyman in perc.
Ypu know what they say "once you go black ---------------you'll never go back" :D:D

Black powder cartridge is not muzzleloading, it's loading cartridge ammunition with black powder, as many of our current cartridge arms started out, such as 45-70.

For knowledge and getting you started Becky Middleton of Hillfolk Muskets is a great resource. She would be about a 4 hour drive from Edmonton. She's the premier supplier of blackpowder guns and supplies in the east central part of the province and west central Saskatchewan. I bet 90% of her business is blackpowder.
