I have a Winchester 1917 30-06, i purchased cheap just wanting a gun liking the 30-06 and not knowing what i really had. However i got to reading it history and wanted to restore it, just to find out not only was the stock butchered to a sporter (the obvious mods), but got measuring and someone actually cut the barrel shorter, so a replica stock won't fit. I also have an interest in tact. rifles and was wondering if anyone knows a good place for a good tact. stock. Or in your opinion best just to leave it and appreciate it for what it is? All orig. sights are gone. Just a set of irons on it. I also didnt really want to drill orig. for scope mounts. Just wanted people opions of the gun and what to do with it.
