Hey guys anybody use 572 in your open guns? Looks promising, burns between 3n38 and 105 and costs 35$ a pound. I'm going to buy a couple pounds and see what happens in my 38SC.

If anyone is already using It, let me know your loads

Cheers

There is info on the BE forum. It sounds Ok as a replacement for Autocomp or HS6 (cleaner apparently) but the top competitors are going to use 3N38 for maximum gas volume.

I’m using 3n38 now. Just looking for a cheaper alternative. Vectan SP2 seams like the best option but is impossible to find. Also getting some AA7, vectan ba 7 1/2, and 572 to try. A pound of powder goes fast @ 9.3grains per...

I got my AA#7 from Rusty, and believe another dealer out west has a stock too, just cant remember the store. its true that you will be in the 9.5-9.6 grs to make major, but the powder itself is cheaper than 3N38. But most importantly is its not a "credit card load", with my load of 9.6gr on a 121 gr frontier FP and OAL of 1.45", lots of room left. I stop using 3N38 for my 9 Major for this reason, 1/16" left to seat the bullet, and too much powder mess especially to a 650 press.

See I do 9.3 3n38 @ 1.255 so I figure closer to 10-10.2 AA7 for 170pf. I use the bearings on my 650, no spills.

How does the AA7 work for you? Clean, flash...

Its not the cleanest of the powders, not as clean as 3n38, I cleaned it every 400 rnds. Surprised you can still manage to drop 9.3grs of 3N38 on a 9mm case.,

It take me some time to learn how to load 3N38. :)
It for sure not easy. But I love the result of it. Before I use VV 3N38, I use CFE Pistol. 6.2 gr CFE Pistol at OAL 1.140 easily make 9mm major.
CFE do not shoot as soft and as clean.

I am happy with CFE Pistol and Titegroup as my go to powder before I learn to use VV powder.
I think I am going to switch over to VV 3N38 for my major 9mm and 38 SC. I am also going to use VV N320 for my 40 S&W and 45 ACP.

VV powder do provide performance advantage over other powders.
I have done me math too. For 27,000 rounds a year, I only need to spend $47 more per month. That is like a coffee per day.

VV 3N38 and N320 is going to be my only powder for future years.

Yeah agreed ... I said f..k it and got a bunch of 3N38 today, it really is the best stuff out there... who knows Vectan might bring back the SP2 one day...
