Win 67 / Win 68

win 68

The rear dovetail on the barrel of the 68 is about 4 inches rearward of the placement of the rear dovetail on the model 67 - of course for the aperture rear sight. The stocks on model 68s all had finger grooves on the forewood and 68's were less common and produced earlier in the production - 1930's I believe. The 67 was in production up until the 60's if I remember correctly. Later 67's did not have the peened spring on the left rear of the barrel to have more bolt tension although the bolts do interchange. I have had lots of fun playing with these over the years. If you want a clean way to install a scope mount on either, the Weaver one piece base for the Browing auto-22 is easily mounted just over the rear sight dovetail by drilling and tapping 3 screw holes and gives plenty of room for loading, ejection, and normal eye relief. Thanks, Peter H.
