Win 680 powder

This is for you guys with old manuals I think. I can't find any specs. for this in any of my manuals, and I have 3 pounds of it. I figure it's already pretty old so I'd like to get it used.
Any specs for .38spl/.357mag, .45acp, .455 webley, 30.06 sprgfld, .303 Brit, 22-250 rem, 30.30 win, 30 carbine, .308 win.....that's all I can think of now.:)
Thanks Guys.

Here is what I found:

Speer Manual #8 shows "Winchester's 680-BR Ball powder is useable only in small caliber rifle cartridges."

In the chart, in #8 it is shown between IMR 4227 and N-200...very close to AA-1680

It seems to be used for 30 Carbine and 22 Hornet.

Time for you to load up some 30 Carbine....

Speer #9

30 M1 Carbine
110 grain bullet, cci 400 primer

680 powder;

14.0 1581fps
15.0 1696fps
16.0 1805fps.

This is an old manual, pre lawyer proofing, so work up carefully to the max of 16 grains

680 powder

well I;m sorry to tell you but I went down to the cellar and checked my oldest books and I found around 2 diffrent loads for 680 powder . nothing you were looking for . good luck

A whole 2 loads, eh?:) Thanks guys. So far the 30 carbine is in the lead....(and I'll watch that max. load)
Keep 'em coming.

As a general guide, look up loads for AA 1680. It is very similar but NOT exactly WW680 (note the 680 in the AA name)

I've always been leery of doing that just because of the 'not exact' thing. I'd prefer published specs., but I will keep it in mind, thanks.

Apparently AA 1680 is a bit slower than W680. So if using AA 1680 data to load W680, start at or just a little lower than the AA 1680 published start data .

I used up the last of my W680 in a .308 with a bunch of 110 grain Hornady RN bullets I was a also trying to get rid of. I did not have any load data, just extrapolated and worked up carefully to a very moderate load. Can't suggest you do the same, but 28 grains worked for me.

Thanks Guys. I'll look into the substitition specs.
Longwalker-if you had a load for a 150 gr. load in .308 I'd be all over it, but I'll make a note of the 110 gr.
Any more???:)

This is/was a fast burning powder with very limited application, just like AA1680, the hornet,Bee, my Whisper, and very few others, it is even too fast for reduced loads with cast bullets, which I experiment alot with. I suggest you trade it with someone as it is in demand by folks that can't get it anymore.

Sure, I'd trade. Any takers?
