Does anyone know if there's enough wood in the stock to have it opened up to fit a hinged floorplate as I have the parts? Plan B can win synthetic stocks be glass bedded or will it even stick to the material? I have the parts to convert to hinged floor plate.

Yes, there is.

I had a Win Mod 70, chambered for the 338-06 with a blind mag well. I used this rifle mostly on horseback hunts and wilderness hunts with my ATV.

Hinged floor plates as well as magazines are just something else that can go wrong when you least need it to happen on such hunts.

I finally gave that rifle to a young person, that is part Mountain Goat. He really wanted a detachable magazine, at his father's urging, which IMHO was wrong advice.

I installed an after market mag well and magazine into that stock without any issues concerning strength.

Thanx .......I much prefer wood over synthetic anyways. Perhaps I'll turn it back the way it was.

The "ADL' style stocks with a blind magazine sometimes don't have the same shape and dimensions as the bottom metal stocks do... and you don't find out until the job is underway...

The ADL stocks are so much more secure and nicer to carry for hunting if you are not in and out of a vehicle a lot...

If you actually go out walking or hiking on your hunt, blind magazine equipped rifles are nice to carry.

I'll voice the minority opinion and say that I prefer hinged floorplates over blind magazines, though I agree about detachable mags.

If things get jammed up in the mag it's nice to be able to dump everything out the bottom and start over. Reliability shouldn't be an issue if everything is set up correctly. The only problem I can remember having with a hinged floorplate was with a BSA CF2, that sheered off the plastic release button.

This is a push feed two piece trigger guard set up at the moment in a Win synthetic stock I don't really care for. I have the original parts for the blind mag wood stock
