Ok so I'm new to the forum and new to reloading. I am having trouble finding load tables for my particular setup: Rem 700 .308, 26" heavy barrel, Hornady 168gr A-max. I feel like I am missing some important information and want to be safe, they guy at the store convinced me Winchester 748 is the most popular powder for a .308win but after a few hours of looking I was only able to find a few (2-3) load tables on W748 in .308 (nothing in 168gr)
Winchester website - NOTHING
Lee Load data that came with my press kit - NOTHING
Lee Website - NOTHING
Honady webiste - NOTHING
Hodgdon came back with a few, but pretty vague compared to other powders such as varget but at least provided maximum loads.
I've loaded up 40 rounds so far using 168gr Hornady A-max, they all shot VERY similar groups - I'd like to push it closer to the max load, but not before verifying with a second source.
-10rounds @40.0 grains win 748
-10@41.0
-10@42.0
-10@43.0
Can anyone tell me if there are tables available from the manufacture, or should I quit wasting my time and go get a more popular powder with data. Also wondering if barrel length will change the powder charge as most of the data out there is using shorter barrels.
Thanks in advance for any input!
