I want a Win 94 in 32 special with a 24" barrel to hunt with. Not interested in a collector. Saw the CPR commerative that was made in 1980 + or -. Are these a good rifle? Do they still suffer from the post 64 quality issues or were thing improved by then?

It's a regular post 64 Model 94. I think you may be confused about the Win models though. Post 64 '94's really didn't have a lot changes that affected the gun structurally. They made the receiver out of a different metal, carriers were different, finish wasn't as good (although it got better again within a few years). Most people wouldn't know the difference with a pre and post laying in front of them. FWIW - dan

Stamped pieces rather than machined? A friend had a post 64 and a bunch of the internals looked like they came out of a Cooey 64. Had a part actually fall out on a trail. Probably a right after 64 gun too. Would be about 66 or 67.

a Winny 94 in 32 special with a 24 inch barrel? I have had the 32 special in rifle (26 inch barrel) and presently a carbine (1949) with a 20 inch barrel. Very good caliber by the way as it is in par with the 30-30 cal. Knocked my deer flat.

I prefer pre-64 ones, but any will do, hard to go wrong with a M94 really. And 32 Win Spl is a good cartridge, you won't have a problem getting what you want, just as long as you aim.
