has anyone else herd the news ? i was reading a hunting mag 2 weeks ago and aparantly the winchester 94 is comming back has anyone else herd more than that? all the article sain is 09 didnt say what models and callibers i want a 94/22mag

The "Mission Accomplished" model, with a gold medallion of GWB waving from the deck of the carrier ;)

But in all seriousness, it would be great to see the '94's back. With octagonal barrels.

I wonder if they could beef up the actions so they could take the higher pressures from other cartridges other then 30/30 etc?

And yes it would be nice to see octagonal barrels again. :)

Also since I live on the wet west coast I'd like the carbine in stainless. :D

I thrown down money in a heartbeat for a 1886 in 45-70, full octagonal barrel & mag tube, tangent sight, pistol grip, crescent steel butt plate, steel foregrip end cap, case hardened receiver. :)

Part of the problem with the idea of chambering the model 94 for higher pressure chamberings is that the action is rear locking, and lacks primary extraction. It simply doesn't handle higher pressures well by its design. The relatively light, rear locking action will tend to stretch cases due to springing of the action, while the lack of primary extraction makes higher pressure chamberings difficult to extract.

if they could make a nice stream lined model 94 in calibers like 308/243/7mm08 they could compete with the BLR

been there , done that- ever hear of the 307, 356, 375 win ?- the 94 just sells in 30-30, and that's it- when winchester DID try to introduce new chamberings, the buying public failed to take advantage- the 307 is very nearly the ballistic twin of the 308, the 356, the 358 win, and there isn't anything close to the 375- granted it's wimpy compared to the rest of the 375's

I might look at one in a M64 configuration w/pistol grip and 24"bbl. Calibers should be 30/30, 35rem, 44Mag.

Either that or bring back a decent remake of the '86.

.

they really must get ther act together and make a very good gun before i buy another 94. the last one (20 years ago) was junk and i never bought another.
i have seen (and shot) a take-down model made about 1910.
now that was a tight gun! not the loose junk i got.
