Win 94 flip up rear site - not tang site.

I have in my posession an early 1900's-era Win 94 in .32 Winchester. The front site is a fixed blade, the rear barrel site is a combination v-notch and flip up site. The rear site is fitted into a dove-tail on the barrel. The portion that flips up appears to be missing a part, its just a short oblong slot, calibrated on one side with some numbers.

Was this a factory site, or an add on? Anyone know what the site was called, and where I might get a replacement part for it? Its not a rear tang site, for sure.

It could also be a Marbles sight. They've been making aftermarket sights for Winchester and marlins for a long long time. I have an old one on a Marlin that is calibrated and looks as you describe it.

I've got one of those on a 1927 Model 94

Any pics? Here's mine:

Site flat, using standard v-notch:

Site flipped up, looks like there is an elevator or peep missing? (pardon the messy background)

If its a Marbles site, its not one that they have made recently.

Yes, there is a 'slider' missing. It has a sighting notch in it and goes crossways on the ladder and moves up and down

My 30-30 is way way low using the V-notch in the sight when the ladder is down, and only hits the bull at 25 yards when I have the slider with its own V-notch at the '3' on the scale.

No pictures, sorry.

My father got the rifle from an old settler on northern Vancouver Island.

Whether that is a custom sight or factory I have no idea.

Never seen a Marbles anything like that one Skeetgunner. Sounds like Meana will be able to set you straight on what it is.

Carbines are 20" barreled and the rifles are 26" and up I believe. Its there abouts for Marlins anyway.

Thanks for the pic Meanea. That must be what I have. I measured the barrel, using the "cleaning rod method" and its 20" to the bolt face. Also, it appears that I'm missing the ring. What does SRC stand for.....saddle ring carbine?

Where's a good place to source replacement parts? Maybe even new wood too?
