Win 94 in .307 Win - value

The local shop here had a beauty that went for $400 (taxes in). It sat on the shelf for about 6 months before moving.

One question: if you hand load, are you able to use the new Hornady 30 cal leverevolution bullet used for the 30-30 and load up some hotter 307's with the pointed tip?

Yes I am sure you can load any bullet at all in the 94 AEs, it seems to me they have a mag tube that staggers the rounds. Somebody who has/had one can chip in here......

Like wade said NO "pointy" bullets.........EVER.

This was kinda the downfall of the 307......
A rimmed 308 win with flat nosed 30-30 bullets:(

Maybe Hornady makes a 30 cal in it's new "Leverevolution" ammo or whatever it's called......
Are these available to the handloaders yet ???
These might just bring back the 307:)

Rimmed cases will off set the bullet tips somewhat. Not enough for absolute safety though. IIRC the .307 is semi rimmed. That would mean the bullets would not be off set. I aways thought I would like one of the so called "Big Bore 94's" each time I pick one up it strikes me as somewhat "tinny" so I bought a Marlin .444 instead.

Well the prices so far sound about right.
I'd trade for it, but I've nothing I want to part with right now, at least nothing you'd want, and no cash either.
You cannot load, as the guys have already said, pointy stuff in tubes.

What if you pulled a bunch of the new 160 gr. Leverevolution out of the 30-30 cases and loaded them into 307 cases? These soft-points are made specifically for tube fed and are available in 444 Marlin, 45-70, 30-30, 35 Rem and 450 Marlin.

I just got rid of mine to a fellow gunnut that Im pretty sure isnt going to get rid of it anytime soon... Im not regretting it yet, because I just havent been using it enough in the last two years...
It had an XS ghost ring and held 7+1, and was light and comfortable to carry... A hell of alot nicer than a forrest gump BLR :dancingbanana:

Well, you don't call this place 'nutz for nothing.

The aforementioned leverrevolotion bullets should be fine in the 307.
The only problem that might occur is how well they stand up to the increased velocity of the 307. Something you'd have to ask Hornady about.
