Win 94 Large loop lever - feeler

Don't burn me for this but I painted it with Krylon, just to get a feel for the color. I'm going to mull it over for a while and if I decide to keep it that color I will get it Cerakoted.

Whatever works. At least with Krylon on stainless, if it scratches off it wont rust underneath and you can recoat it when you feel like.

I'm thinking that the barrel band might not work for me afterall. I have a .30-30 Ranger with a 20" barrel. I've since picked up a 16" Trapper barrel that I plan on putting on it but it is definitely thicker than the other one. These seem to have been made to big bore thickness so the band might not fit.

I ordered, and never heard back from the waterjetshop (out of the states). I've been busy with some flood reno's and have forgotten about this. Ill check whats going on with the shop.

I apologize for not getting back to you though.

The waterjet place is shipping them today, it'll be a couple weeks before I grab them at the border and then a couple more before the machine shop mills them, then another week for me to clean them up with a die grinder.

No apologies necessary. I hope the flood damage wasn't too extreme for you! I lived in Calgary about 15 years ago and just can't fathom the water that was there! Pretty hard to wrap my head around it, some pictures I seen looked like w war zone in a third world country! Did you ever get more barrel bands or have any left over? I know I said I didn't want any mut you did such an amazing job on your rifle I'm kinda jealous! lol.

We did fairly well with the flood damage. Already tore out the basement and redid some flooring, were going to do a bunch of reno's to the basement anyways as it was past due. I have too many projects ongoing as it is, putting together a toyota truck from parts, yard work, rifle projects, a very energetic two year, old blah blah blah. Why do one or two things prefectly when you can do a whole bunch of things real half-assed?

I have a couple more sets of barrel bands, but not enough time to finish them up with my die grinder... If you want a set and have the tools to finish them I can send a set off with the loop.

Just got 5 of these in the mail from the water jet place, it was a month as i had them shipped to a border outlet to save shipping costs, and it was a while before i could pick them up.

I'm gonna drop them off at the machine shop this week, 2 weeks to machine, a week or so to polish them up in the garage and then they will be in the mail. Was it just two people that wanted one? I just bought 5 bare receivers with barrels so I'll probably keep the rest for future projects. The amount of time it takes me to polish these things up isn't profitable, just covers my costs to keep one of the batch for myself (this is probably the last batch I'll make)

Is it just me or does this scope look like its mounted 90 degrees off? I'm not a lever type of guy so maybe this was done
on purpose for case ejection. I dunno..

Looks like it to me as well. I do know occasionally a knowledgeable shooter will mount a scope like that if it has more windage adjustment than elevation. It can then use the windage adjustment for elevation adjustment. Somehow, unless the bases / rings are goofy, I can't see this being necessary with a 30-30. Or as you say, it could be to keep the casings from hitting the windage knob.

I remembered to bring these in to work so i can drop them off at the machinist during lunchtime. Version 3 of the lever loops, I bent the loop up just a bit so hopefully the foot has better contact with the safety button on the tang, I increased the size of the loop just slightly, increased the thickness of the material around the outside of the loop (as thats where its most at risk for damage if it were dropped hard), added the tabs for the machinist to clamp down when milling them, Ill have to cut them off or get them removed after.

The waterjet does a much cleaner job compared to the laser table. I don't think I will use the laser table again. I believe silvertip said that it had to be tweaked in a vise slightly, due to warping from the heat induced from the laser. The triangle cut out is much cleaner this way.

mostly just updating this thread cause I like pictures.

I think so, I havent got them back from the machine shop yet, though i thought they said they would be done by now. I better call them.

Perhaps i should do roll call so i dont miss anyone.

As of now the list is:

Silvertip
leg
sawzall
g. mitchell
me (pre 64 94)

They'd be all spoken for then unless I missed someone.

Update: I just got them back from the machine shop, all that's left to do is clean them up on the bench grinder and polish a bit.

In the last picture, on the post 64 blued loop you can just make out a bit of bared metal where the safety mechanism contacts a section of the lever, it's just at the edge of the little foot, so I adjusted the location so it's more centered on these. I may send one set out to one person and get their feedback before mailing the rest out in case they need a little tweaking.

I also made the thickness of the hand loop thicker, so as they would be a bit stronger then the originals, and I think this section of the loop is most at risk to being dented or damaged as it protrudes the most.

Should be contacting folks in a week or two to send them out.
