Win 94 Lever Jamming with Hornady Leverevolution Ammo

The last round in a tubular magazine jams with these pointy Hornady Leverevolution bullets in my Winchester Model 94 built about 1991 (30-30 cal).

Research suggests it is because of a rounded magazine follower and the first round in the tube angles a bit. Marlin fixed this issue years ago for the Leverevoluion ammo by flattening/dimpling their mag follower. Replacement Marlin mag followers seem readily available for older guns. But I can't find Winchester mag followers that address this issue, or even much discussion on it. Some Win 94's jam with Leverevolution and some don't. Mine does! Last round only.

The layman's solution is apparently to put a flat-nosed cartridge in first, then load the Leverevolution. I would like a permanent fix.

Questions:
1. Is there a Winchester Model 94 mag follower availble that is not rounded but made to handle Hornady Leverevolution pointy bullets, and where?

2. Will a Marlin tubular mag follower replacement for their 30-30's work in a Winchester Model 94? No guesses please! Need to know for sure.

3. And because I also have a Win 94 Big Bore in .307 and look forward to trying the brand new Hornady Leverevolution in .307 Win when it comes to Canada....
Are 30-30 and .307 Win Model 94 magazine followers interchangeable? Again, no guesses please.

same issues with mine!! and a quick fix is just load an old fashion flat tip cartridge first and it will work fine, at least mine does
 
I just bought a box of Hornady Leverrevolution for my win 94 in 30-30 but I have not shot any yet, was planning on using it next year for deer hunting season. How bad of a jam is it and how easy is it to unjam it? One other quick question, I also have 94 Win in 307, is the Hornady Leverrevolution in 307win really coming to Canada?
 
My pre 64 winchester 94 runs the leverevolution ammo just fine maybe there is a difference in the followers that way?

Edit- my Mossberg 464 runs them fine too

Just to dimple the follower might alleviate some of the jams but if the beveled end of the original follower is still there there is nothing stopping the pointy end of a shell from catching on it from time to time.

I can think of a # of ways to make a permanent fix quite easily, the first is to have a machine shop (or friend with access to some equipment) and have them cut a clone of the original excepting the bevel, just leave the front end flat so the bullet point is pushed all the ways out of the tube every time. Another simple fix would be to wrap the forward end of your follower with a bit of tape to make a form to hold a bit of JB weld, make the end flat..let it dry for a day and return to the gun and your done.

Try loading up the mag and see if it cycles through including the last round. And definitely sight in the gun before hunting season with the Leverevolution. It shoots way different point of impact than Winchester or Federal flat-nosed.

The jam occurs with the last round not feeding or only partially feeding out of the tube and getting caught. Requires much jiggling and messing around to get it out and up. Don't know about the .307 availability in Canada yet. It's now on many of the major US ammo retail sites (and cheaper than Winchester). I been searching and asking some of the CGN sponsoring retailers but no word yet. It was flagged by a CGN'er on Nov. 1 as appearing on the Hornady web site as "new".

And thanks to the other posters for some good suggestions on the Win 94 mag follower issue. Still hoping to just find a replacement follower because they are inexpensive (under $20) for both the 30-30 and .307, and Winchester brand preferably but if Marlin's will fit that would be great.
 
Huh, so that's what's happening with my 1894. Same issue. Pissed me off so it's on a 'time out'. More of a Marlin guy anyway!

Did anyone ever rectify? I’ve recently picked up 2 307’s, the first one cycles well until the last cartridge then it doesn’t lift smoothly, I can live with that. I just got another yesterday that is absolutely mint but doesn’t cycle at all without jamming up, what looks to be “ under carriage” jam, I’m also using the lever evolution ammo.

You need a new cartridge link. You may be able to peen the nose on yours temporarily.

As the lifter raises the next round slides under it causing a jam, gotta pull screw on lever to get the round out, this is on the one I just got, it’s like brand new. I did oil the heck out of it and if I cycle slowly it’s not as bad....
 
Gunrunner has the right answer. There's a little stud at the front of the link that acts as a cartridge stop. The stud is either worn or was never long enough to begin with. You might be able to get somebody to tig weld a bit of metal to the tip of it and shape it up.
 
Ok, found diagram and see the tit on end of link, will take it into work Tuesday and tig some material on there. Thx guys
