I was shown a post 64 model 94 on the weekend. He said he was having feeding problems. The first thing I saw was a tin or thin metal lifter and put it back into the case. Told him cant be fixed with that type of lifter. Has any one here replaced these with the solid cast type of lifter and do you have to replace the spring as well. Can you buy these or look for used parts

His feeding problems could be the lifter but may also be from the "link". Post 64 rifles had weak link noses and would often chip or wear, allowing loaded rounds to pop out and then under the lifter.
Yes I had a hunting buddy that had a rifle do just that. Had to carry tools to fix in the bush. Finally got rid of it.Does anyone know where a fellow might get the parts such as lifter and spring? I just found out that he had it to a gun repair person and he bent the 2 front tabs on the lifter to help align the shell to the chamber. Did not work.

Yes you can replace the stamped post 64 lifter with the cast 1971 pattern lifter.
I did so on a 1867 centennial- i then replaced the lever for the improved post 1971 cam lobe.
I had to fit the lever extension but i believe that was original to the gun.
A friend has a (bought new) c.1965 m94 which he has put thousands (no i'm not exagerating) of rounds thru and never had a problem with the original stamped lifter.
