I have a Win '94 NRA centennial that was once "blued" seems as though the "bluing" is flaking off and the reciever/barrel/barrel bands/lever are rusting and pitting a bit. I've talked to a few smiths and all I can get is a re-baking laquer finish. I would like this rifle to be BLUED and appear to look like factory. I understand this is hard to do, but I'm sure it can be done.

Anyone out there willing to take this on? PM with details.

I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but I think you'll find many competent gunsmiths who can do such a restoration. Unless this particular 1894 has special meaning to you personally, it's doubtful you'd want to put the money into it.

The job consists of disassembly, cleaning and polishing, rebluing, and re-assembly (to name only the major tasks).

The gun is only a shooter now so try doing a "reblue" on your own. You have nothing to lose as it will never be a collectible again. I would just use steel wool and oil to remove the rust and enjoy shooting it.

I realise it is "only" a shooter now, but my dear ol' Dad bought it new and I would spend the $$ to get it to look like it just came out of the box. BTW-He used it for shooting deer in the '70's and bought it 'cause that's the only M94 left in the store at the time.

I am not a expert on hot bluing,
But these post 64 Winch. use a alloy
reciever and many times standard blue
will turn out a coppery color.
You could try and them have to paint/bake
which will be $$$$$$$
