Win 94 saddle ring - restore?

What are your thoughts on this. A local shop has a 1909 Winchester model 94 saddle ring carbine in 38-55 for sale. The bore is good, the rest is bad. The fore stock is cracked & split, 5% bluing left, the saddle ring is missing, and it was stored wet so it's rusted and pitted. The receiver isn't too badly rusted bu the barrel is about 20% rust covered with pitting. I don't own it so I haven't posted pictures.

What do you think the current value is? Would it be worth restoring or leave as is?
 
Without seeing it, a guess in this area would be around $600 - $700 although depending on condition that might be a bit high. If you have it refinished commercially the cost would probably be more that any increase in price you could sell it for. As a collectable gun, refinishing reduces the value unless it is really rough. I think the real reason to buy it is if you want one to shoot and with that in mind, refinishing affects only your tastes in the gun
