I have a win-cooey(Cobourg made) in 308 and am tryin to get the bolt apart for cleaning, because it won't eject the fired shell. It pulls the empty shell part way out the "lets" it go just sitting there. Can anyone tell me how to get the bolt apart and clean it?

Is the ejector plunger stuck in the boltface? It should project from the face, and be springloaded. It is retained by a small crosspin. Try soaking the boltface with a penetrating oil, and gently tapping the ejector with a punch to free it, if it is stuck. If you decide to remove the ejector retaining pin, remember that the ejector has a strong spring behind it. If it is released without being controlled, it will be launched and perhaps never seen again. And you do not want it to strike your eye.

Goto www.huntingmag.com/big_game/boltcleaning/ I usually buy one of the Firearm disassembly books by WOODS before I try to take something major apart and watch that ejector it is really spring loaded, I have one lost in a cluttered room , when I removed the pin that holds it , it ricocheted around the room , I had to buy a new one. The instructions are for a Winchester model 70, I believe your gun is very similar.

Hook a fired shell under the extractor, and pivot it against the ejector. Should take some force. Release the case and it should pivot out of the boltface.
