Win, lose or draw. How was the panic buy before the freeze

So with the freeze comming into affect today, where are you sitting?

Did you get everything you wanted?

Were you stuck with guns you were hoping to sell?

I feel pretty rounded out with what I own, and what I acquired. Ordered one long time want from irunguns right before they cut off imports, and picked up another I was looking for from a local guy a few weeks ago.

I never sold any, and was in shock and awe at some of the asking prices after the import ban in august.

Didn't get a .45 I might end up regretting that.

When Pierre Poilievre landslides his way into office he better roll back this bullshiz tout suite.

Quite simply I have more handguns than I need.... but that's not what bothers me.

I find myself hoping the crime rate continues to climb at an accelerated rate.

Im starting to think the only way Canadians will support gun ownership is if they feel they need the protection.

I was lucky enough to get my RPAL near the end of June, so I was able to purchase everything that I wanted (prices for the most part weren't too good though). The problem is I still don't have any of them in hand, so I hope I end up liking them all...

Unfortunately I only started buying handguns when the freeze was announced but I managed to cover most of my bases (that is if all my transfers go through) the only thing I missed out on is a 357 revolver (most were way out of my price range) obviously there’s hundreds of handguns I wanted to collect over the years but I got most of my bases covered so I’m pretty happy

I got my RPAL in July - I think I'm pretty happy with the stuff I ended up with (assuming transfers happen without a hitch). Part of me wanted to get a .357 revolver to round out the collection, but I didn't want things sitting around and being safe-queens. Ideally, I don't hate anything I bought (but still don't have)!

Relatively new RPAL recipient. Had no intention of buying a handgun this year. Wanted to take my time, research, test the waters, handle things in store. Then the ban was announced. Went into overdrive, lost track of what I bought honestly, it's been a blur the last 4 months. I think I bought 21 pistols and revolvers, give or take a few. I'll have to sit down when I have the time and put everything in a spreadsheet. Anyways, feel like I covered the basics from .22 to .357, revolvers to semi-auto. The ones that got away: wish I had pulled the plug on a Staccato P Duo. I couldn't justify the cost at the time and didn't know enough at the time that I should grab one. Just couldn't get my head around how it could be much better than a 1911 (of which I had purchased 2 in 9mm, and already owned one in .45). But the internet says it's the new hotness, so I should have just went for it. Too bad most of us won't be able to enjoy the Luago Alien. Really intrigued by the design, but just couldn't justify the cost, especially with vendors jacking up the price on remaining stock by thousands over MSRP, and even the spare parts being unicorns. I bought a Python in 4.25", but I'm kind of regretting not getting the 6" version while it was still available. Satisfied the 6" revolver itch by buying a S&W 929 (9mm). It doesn't look as shiny as a Colt, but its better than nothing, and a lot cheaper to feed than .357. Those are the ones that slipped by. Otherwise I think I'm good (assuming the vendors do their part and I don't get any nasty surprises regarding inventory errors in the coming months). I let a lot of guns pass by on the assumption that I already owned one, but a lot of that is theoretical until the toys get delivered. A waiting game now.

I was not able to get all the ones I was after but I managed to fill most of the spots. I did make a few last minute purchases that I was hoping to list on the EE.
I'm an optimist and I hope that this "ban" is short lived. I did want to add a Desert Eagle and a few others.

I think I won pretty big. I had my Rpal but never really used it until the announcement. On the 6th of June I started buying aggresively and got pretty much all what I was looking for. I'm most proud of my Gen 5 Glock 22 and my H&K USP .45 custom sport. Guarantied fun for years to come.

Bought 13 new to me, sold 7 of what I previously had.

The ones that got away:
Glock 40
Case Hardened Desert Eagle .50AE
Full size Staccato
USP Compact Tactical .45ACP V1
FNX Tactical .45
Ruger MK IV bull barrel
Sig P226 Legion RXP (maybe)

All in all a mostly positive outcome. I’m holding out for grandfathering personally. Handguns seem like a enough of a political hot potato that the conservatives can’t be relied on to solve it.

I was able to cover .22 to .357 but have a large wishlist still. My wishlist included a 1911 in .45, Glock 20, CZ Shadow 2 and SW in .44mag.

Sold everything I owned. Bought 3 new from dealers. Now own 9mm only. Shadow 2 Optic Ready, regular Shadow 2 and a Shadow Systems DR920 Elite, bronze threaded barrel. That’s it, that’s all.

Congratulations on acquiring an optic ready Shadow 2. I was never able to find one.

There was a poll that resulted in majority of Canadians are concerned with rising crime and majority of Canadians are losing trust in our justice institutions.

Wanted a 22 pistol, and the EE came through with a ruger single 10

And a 1911, had to learn how to do E transfers and my first and only colt showed up in the parcel slot, remember the shock and surprise of seeing the parcel key. Wanted something I could shoot the tar out of so a cold cup national match it was.

End of an era

Picked up another Glock, because who knows how long the one I had will last? Wife picked up a Beretta M9, just because. Also got a 9mm Luger, because I had kind of always wanted one and never thought I could afford such a pistol. Found a nice one at a very reasonable price and figured it was now or never. So now I have a Luger to go with my MP40. :)

Wanted a semi auto .22 but didn’t find one.

Picked up 5 others including a Ruger Super Redhawk in 454 Casull. That one should be interesting if I can get ammo for it.
