Win, lose or draw. How was the panic buy before the freeze

Rpal didn't arrive until September so all I was able to snag was a CZ Shadow 2 Orange, Sig P320, and Heritage Rough Rider. I definitely wanted more but time ran out.

Already had everything I ever 'realistically' wanted before the freeze was first announced. :p

However, that all said, I'm very sad about what has come about, though. After > 40 yrs of handgun ownership I am ever more disgusted with this Liberal federal government we seem to be endlessly stuck with. And the current crop of morons seemingly in charge of all the BS they continuously want to ram down our throats.

NAA.

Well said. I’ve only had handguns for 12 years or so but my first rifle was the cottages Cooey single shot bolt action .22 back in the ‘60’s. I loved that gun.

I got to the party late, but I was able to get a S&W 686, 2 CZ75's and 2 Springfield XD's. When I think about it, I am actually really sad. I think this is the end of Canada. We are really just a collection of disconnected provinces ruled by a self-anointed elite who truly believe they know what's best for us.

That’s impressive you got all of those with a Sept RPAL - nice work and great choices!

Thanks! I jumped on the Shadow 2 because it was the only one I could find and it was the one handgun I really wanted and planned on buying before all this ban stuff started. I was only planning on the blue model though, this is overkill. Lol And I always wanted a Sig so just grabbed the one that was available that day. The revolver was a what the hell it's only $284 purchase. I'll definitely enjoy shooting these until the next change, for better or worse. I should have pulled the trigger on another pistol earlier this week when I had the chance. ####ty day for us today, that's for sure.

I have an ad to sell one and I had like 10 people trying to jump on it.

like going shopping on xmas eve at 7pm.

I feel sad for the young folks starting out. I was on the phone talking with a guy who just got his RPAL in the mail 3 days ago. He is trying to get a gun and there are none.

I managed to snap up a CZ75 stainless that I have wanted for too long. Whew.

Here in Vancouver I’ve seen “tool libraries” where you can borrow tools. Young guys can still “borrow” restricteds. Maybe we should each spread the word by legally lending out a hg to someone? Pay it forward kind of thing?

Added a few that I wanted. Lost out on some that I was keeping an eye on but didn't have the cash for and disappeared pretty much immediately. Oh well, I have plenty of handguns already, I can be happy with what I have for a long time.

Bought 13 new to me, sold 7 of what I previously had.

The ones that got away:
Glock 40
Case Hardened Desert Eagle .50AE
Full size Staccato
USP Compact Tactical .45ACP V1
FNX Tactical .45
Ruger MK IV bull barrel
Sig P226 Legion RXP (maybe)

All in all a mostly positive outcome. I’m holding out for grandfathering personally. Handguns seem like a enough of a political hot potato that the conservatives can’t be relied on to solve it.

Mostly a win. Ran out of funds, but I covered most bases I wanted. I realized in the end I probably should have bought a 10mm M&P but I was still too focused on other platforms when they were still available. A cheap 1981 .45ACP Stainless Colt 1911 Combat Commander also got away from me in the end, so my last purchase was a 9mm Colt Combat Elite Commander for 3000$ lol. From when I got my RPAL in August until the end I wasn't really able to find a USP Compact for sale, but I got a .45 ACP USP Tactical. The Desert Eagle up until now has been and will forever be just a fantasy.

Regret: Buying a chinese knockoff of a russian tokarev LOL.
Happy with all the others I'm stuck with, even if it is 3 more than I intended to have when the hammer dropped. Super happy I decided to get an FN 509 LS Edge even if it was pretty pricey, and of course N. Sylva brought in B-stock guns at the end... wish I'd pulled the trigger yesterday on an HK SFP9L OR as well. Oh well.
I know a couple guys that bought over 30 since June... what on earth are they going to think about it after the novelty wears off and they're out over $30K LOL

I also had my RPAL for years but only 1 handgun. When the freeze was first announced in May I quickly panic bought a 357 revolver. Then I fell asleep until mid-August and started panic buying. I learned a lot along the way and had many wants that turned to needs. Picked up everything I wanted and learned more and picked up more. Have to be more than satisfied at the end of the day at my final tally but not satisfied with our current state of politics - not just in Canada but beyond. We are living in unsettled times. Meanwhile - time to hit the range and finally enjoy.

Always wanted a HK Mk. 23 Only real regret.

Did buy 8 more during the freeze. Mostly at the beginning. Have an artillery Luger coming. That’s what I’m most excited to receive.

If anyone has leads on Luger magazines. Let me know!

I am glad to hear that many new(er)-slash-marginally interested RPAL holders were able to acquire at least some of their wish lists. I got a Pietta revolver and a PSA Dagger (should have bought 2) before the deadline. Happily my son (RPAL last December) got two of mine so far and seven more to come (whenever that happens).

This is the day that I’ve been dreading since Paul Martin threatened a handgun ban back in 2005 during that year’s election campaign.
Take heart, this IS reversible.

So with the freeze comming into affect today, where are you sitting?

Did you get everything you wanted?

Were you stuck with guns you were hoping to sell?

I feel pretty rounded out with what I own, and what I acquired. Ordered one long time want from irunguns right before they cut off imports, and picked up another I was looking for from a local guy a few weeks ago.

I never sold any, and was in shock and awe at some of the asking prices after the import ban in august.

I placed an order with Millbrook Tactical back in early July but their large import order did not make it across before the freeze. I ended up buying a co-workers M&P then a couple others, Sig and Walther. One from Easthill Outdoors in Sept and another local pu. Did the Seller/buyer phone transfers a couple weeks ago. Hoping all works out in the end and I get the transfer notices from the AB CFO. Fingers crossed.
