Had this rifle built in the summer but only got a chance to get out to the range last week to sight it in and see how it shoots.

Specs:
-Win M70 in .223 Rem
-24" Douglas #8 1-8" Twist Barrel
-McMillan A3 Stock (50% OD, 25% Tan, 25% Black)
-Warne 20MOA Tactical Base
-TPS TSR Aluminum Low Rings
-Bushnell 4200 6-24x40mm SF Scope
-Harris 6-9" Notched Bipod
-Weighs 14lbs unloaded
-Re-barrelled, Matte Blued, and Bedded by Jason Spencer at Gunco

The only loads I had on hand for testing were the ones I had developed for my Mini 14. Largest 5 shot group with that load was 0.68" and the smallest 0.47". I'm very pleased so far and can't wait to start load development for this rifle.

Looks nice Gord. Is it a push feed?

Keep thinking that I want to build an M70 myself, with a pre '64 action.

Very nice... I'm drooling since I have a soft spot for M70's in my heart.

Hungry the .308 Stealth you sold me is shooting very well also. I had Jeff Smith Bed it, and I added some green and black to your tan paint job.

Sam, the 223 a push feed which I think is probably easier for a smith to get to shoot really well (ala M700's) but you still get the excellent M70 trigger, and safety.

Hungry here: Yes, I miss that Stealth M70, it was my wife's. Then she switched to an M700P in .223 and after a year, she decided to just shoot the 9mm single stack 1911 pistol. In the meantime since I am competing in Precision rifle events casually, I'm shotgun (how appropriate) wed to Remmy's M700 VSF in factory bbl'ed .308. Yes, I miss that Stealth. It was so very good to us.

OK I'm in. Old school non tactical :D

Winchester Model 70 Coyote 243WSSM laminate stock. The first rifle I ever bought. After the first time I shot it I told a buddy of mine I'd buy it if he ever sold it. He's a good guy and sold it to me a few months later after he bought a 22-250.

She looks stock but... Barrel free floated, bedded and trigger job all done by a gunsmith.

Sweet coyote Epoxy7,I missed out on one of those a few years back, I just found a pre 64 223 varmint, going to pick it up mid month, I'll get some picks up on monday
cheers everybody KEEP THE WINCHESTERS COMING guys!

I changed the thread title, please post your M70 precision rifle specs and pics. CGN already has a thread like this on LTR's/700P and all those HB Savages, so let's get rolling with the M70's, FN SPR's/PBR's.

Epoxy7

Nice Coyote, I almost bought one a couple of years back but could not justify the WSSM having already had the action for my 223 build and a M70 243 already in the safe. What scope are you using and how does it shoot?

Here's my Winchester precision rifle, factory M70 Palma match rifle.

Redfield International sights, caliber 308 Winchester ( naturally!)

I'm just range testing my new one built by HWSNBN.

-MOD70 CRF Long Action (Williams Firearms replacement CNC Stainless Claw Extractor) action blueprinted
-McMillan M40 stock, Pillar & Glass bedded
-Williams Firearms one piece stainless CNC bottom metal
-RKS single point cut rifled barrel (1-10 twist) / 26"
-Custom made muzzle break
-Farrel 20 MOA Rail
-Badger Rings
-Leupold 6.5-20x50 TMR / Mk4 Tactical

The gun also has a mag box and follower from a 375 H&H. This way I can load 208 Amax type rounds almost right into the lands and still mag feed.

I have the jewel trigger for it sitting right here in front of me, just have to make one more trip to HWSNBN for the install.

The gun really likes the Amax and I just ordered some 210gr Berger VLD's to try.

What's the preference for Win. precision builds? From what I understand, target shooters prefer the push feed M70 vers. It's as strong or stronger than the Remington, has a slightly longer mag box than Remingtons 2.80. The pre-64 controlled feed seems to have a lot of hype. Personally I've never had any more problems with a later push feed.
