model 42 assembly/disassembly
There is a winchester publication for take-down and assembly for the model 42. You may see one listed on e-bay from time to time or you can order the takedown guide from Ray Riling books in Pennsylvania .(that's how I did it) In the meantime, assuming you know how to separate the barrel and forearm assembly from the action, the only thing that might be considered "tricky", is the screw that anchors the carrier has a left hand thread. Personally, I don't think that the job of disassembly is that difficult. Then again, I might not be smart enough to know better!!!! Just pay attention while you do it and you might consider treating yourself to a takedown guide, you won't regret it. I believe I paid $15.00-$20.00 U.S. for my guide. Me, I have three model 42's, and I think they are a very fun gun to shoot. Its the only thing I use anymore for skeet and I love it !!!!
