I have a Winchester Mod 50 that I would like to have tapped for removable chokes. Can it be done? What is this I keep reading about the forcing cone as well? This old gun works great, I would just like a little more range for turkeys and predators. Is there any one close to Kelowna?

Is your gun a full choke? Most of the older 50's and 59's are. Those old full chokes are tight bores and I do not see you gaining much of anything as far as range goes by having your barrel threaded.
Polishing the forcing cone can help with your pattern and be some what of a recoil reducer. I have had it done on a Ithaca 37 and a Win SX1. FS

I have seen a model 50 with a poly choke installed on the barrel. May be another option for you to consider.

The barrel thickness on a model 50 makes threaded choke installation a bit "iffy". Also you can not lengthen the forcing cone very much on the floating chamber. I have lengthened and polished the cone a bit on a model 50 and it really did not improve the pattern all that much.
Your gun barrel should be stamped on the left side as to what the choke is.
If you measure the O.D. of the barrel you can determine if choke tubes could possibly be installed. For the thinnest tubes other than Brileys (sp?) the diameter must be at least 0.810 inches.
