considering buying a new gun,270 win. Have read a few articles/advertisements regarding the "new" model 70's.
Have never shot or handled one, can anyone shed some
on this rifle....thanks

There are a few recent threads on CGN about them. Use the search feature at the top right. I like em, well built, smooth, classic design. They're available for $700ish and put just about everything in its price class to shame.

I have had a new model 70 extreme weather in 300 win for about a year now. I really like the rifle. Well built, reliable, smooth bolt and shoots under an inch with a few different factory rounds.

Wouldn't mind another one myself.

Thats the best buy out there at this time, in my opinion. I have handled several at Wholesale Sports. and the fit and finish/ trigger pull, were great. According to "24 hour campfires" forums in the states they shoot well. You would be wise to either pick your own rifle, or if ordering, have them ensure the barrel is centered in the stock. The last Supergrade I looked at wasnt, but I dont know if it is made in the South Caroliner factory, which seems to be the best mdl 70' s

The ones that I handled at either WSS or Wharehouse Sports St. Paul Ab felt really nice!! I have M70 Fwt in .270 and a Super Black Shadow in 7WSM, they feel nice and shoot great bu tthe newer M70 with CF is definately IMO a great rifle made greater.
I'm presently between purchasing either an SXR in 300WSM or another M70 in a Black Shadow in 30-06.....
